The Cultural Cities Research Network will be holding its third research seminar on Wednesday 7th December 2011 in Birmingham at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University. The seminar theme will be ‘impact’, and participants will be invited to reflect on the short and long-term impacts of bidding for UK City of Culture 2013, with a particular focus on different communities within cities. We will also be talking about our core research interests and how we can take the network forward via the development of collaborative research projects.
The seminar will be structured as follows:
9.30-10.00: Registration & coffee
10.00: Welcome to Birmingham, review of previous seminar discussions and emerging research questions
10.30 -12.00: Presentations and Q&A from Birmingham network members including Val Birchall, Head of Arts, Birmingham City Council and Prof. Ian Grosvenor, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Cultural Engagement, University of Birmingham
12.00-1.00: Lunch and networking
1.00-2.30: Group discussions on theme of ‘impact’, including:
- reflection on own experiences
- commonalities and differences between cities
- research interests for network to take forward
2.30: Break followed by group feedback and summary of key interests
3.30: Thanks and close
